Swedish utility giant Vattenfall has launched a Polish unit to carry out trading of both electricity and carbon dioxide emissions. The southern city of Gliwice will house the independent trading arm of Vattenfall, which hopes to double its share of the Polish electricity market to around 15%.

“By establishing an independent trade organisation, Vattenfall is a first mover in the Polish energy market,” said Justus Schuetze, managing director of Vattenfall Trading Services’s Polish unit.
