Swedish power company Vattenfall has acquired Trianel-PED, a German online platform where municipal utilities sell decentral energy solutions to their customers.

Today, more than 50 municipal utilities use the platform to offer for example photovoltaic systems, battery storage, heat solutions and charging stations for electric vehicles to their customer base.

Vattenfall will continue to offer the platform solution to municipalities utilities in close cooperation with Trianel, the municipal utility owned developer of the platform. In addition, Vattenfall will use the portal to sell decentral products to its own private customers and under the Vattenfall brand.

“The platform enables us to better serve the strongly growing interest of our German customers in sustainable and decentral energy solutions – in line with our strategy. More and more private customers want to contribute to the energy transition and we are now able to provide them with an attractive offer,” says Rainer Wittenberg, Vice President of Sales Germany. Vattenfall plans to go out with its offerings to customers in 2017.
