Varel International has introduced new SlipStream RC Pro completion roller cone drill bits for oil and gas industry.
The new drill has been designed for the fast and effective drill out of frac plugs, according to the company.
Varel said that the SlipStream comprises hybrid cutting structure matched specifically to the distribution of high hardness, abrasion and elastic or plastic materials found in plugs.
The new SlipStream RC Pro products have been drilling plugs up to 70% faster than typical all mill tooth or all insert cutting structures in field tests, noted Varel.
Varel International Oil & Gas president Michael Reeves said the company has long been known for building highly reliable workover and completions drilling bits.
"However, with SlipStream RC Pro we have created a novel solution to the specific challenges of frac plug drilling which will deliver enhanced performance and value to our customers," Reeves added.
