The wind farm, which was initially developed by Highland Group Holdings, is situated in the German Bight, 95km off the Borkum island.
The contract includes design, engineering, procurement, construction and installation of the foundations, inter array cables and offshore high voltage station, and wind turbines transportation.
Under the contract, Van Oord will also install Aeolus, its offshore installation vessel, and Nexus, its cable-laying vessel.
The offshore installation is expected to commence in the second half of 2018 and the wind farm will start its commercial operations by the end of 2019.
The wind facility will have 31 8MW wind turbines and will generate over 252MW, to meet the sustainable energy requirements of over 178000 households per year.
On completion, the wind park will support the German government’s aim to reduce CO2 emissions by 40% by 2020 when compared to 1990, by minimizing the CO2 emissions by 360,000 tonnes every year.

In November 2015, Van Oord secured an order to install foundations at the 660MW Walney Extension offshore wind farm located in the Irish Sea.
Van Oord has completed the installation of two offshore high voltage substations (OHVS) and first 77 transition pieces at the 600MW Gemini offshore wind project in the Netherlands.
