The delivery is part of a rebuild that enables the plant to reduce its use of fossil fuels significantly and increase the share of biofuel in its energy production cost-efficiently.

The flue gas cleaning system will improve the plant's energy efficiency and district heating capacity, in addition to reducing its emissions.

The delivery includes a flue gas pre-scrubber, tube condenser and chimney modification. The system is expected to be taken into use in February 2019. Heat will be fed from the flue gas cleaning system into the municipal district heating network. The heat output will be around 30 MW.

"The system is required for our increasing production of heat for the district heating network. The investment has a markedly short payback time, from one to two years, which can be regarded as a significant achievement in the history of energy production," says Kalle Patomeri, Production Manager at Vantaan Energia.

Valmet delivered two similar systems to Vantaan Energia's waste power plant in 2014.
