VA Tech Hydro has been awarded a contract worth approximately US$15M to upgrade the O Nova Pindo power station in A Coruna Province, Spain, by Ferroatlantica.
Work has recently started which will bring a new turbine generator unit and a 10MW horizontal Francis turbine.
va-tech-hydro secured the contract after successfully working with Ferroatlantica on the 2 x 48MW Santa Eugenia plant. O Novo Pindo, located in the Galicia region, will now be linked to the Santa Eugenia plant, taking water from a connection to the existing penstock.
Completion of the project is expected in April 2003
