USG Nevada, a subsidiary of renewable energy firm US Geothermal, has entered into an agreement to sell energy generated by a geothermal power project in the US state of Nevada to NV Energy.

Under the 25-year deal, NV Energy will buy an annual average of up to 19.9 net MW of renewable energy from the San Emidio power project located in Washoe County.

The Unit 1 of the project is scheduled to begin commercial operation during the fourth quarter of 2011, while the Unit 2 is expected to be on line during the second quarter of 2013.

US Geothermal said it is also planning two additional power generating units at the San Emidio site.

The power purchase agreement is subject to the approval of the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada.
