Three companies will share in the multiple-award, indefinite quantity contract (IQC) to help renovate and modernize Afghanistan’s water and energy sectors.
The new IQC is expected to address water issues including household, community, and urban water supply; treatment and sanitation; wastewater management; water reuse and water resources management.
IQC will also address watershed planning; design and construction of small irrigation dams; and design and construction of large multi-purpose reservoirs.
Energy work under the IQC will include support for thermal, hydropower, solar, and wind energy generation projects; transmission and distribution; power imports; energy conservation and energy efficiency activities; and other technical support for commercial energy operations across Afghanistan.
The contract includes construction services, design and build activities to include architectural and engineering services, technical assistance, and other support services.
Tetra Tech chairman and CEO Dan Batrack said the new program builds on the firm’s previous efforts related to water supply, sanitation, and energy in Afghanistan, where it is addressing critical needs as part of USAID’s integrated international development effort.
Tetra Tech was one of three firms awarded USAID contract.
