SERIIUS is jointly undertaken by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bangalore and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Golden, Colorado.
The partnership seeks to advance the development of solar electric technologies through the reduction of cost per watt of PV and CSP.
Estimated investment for the initiative is in the region of $50m with the costs jointly shared by the Government of India’s department of science and technology and US department of energy.
A senior energy ministry official Rajeev Deshpande was quoted by The Hindu saying that the involved parties are expecting the project bear positive results within five years.
SERIIUS is one part of the three Joint Clean Energy Research and Development Centres (JCERDC) between US and India.
