NYSEG, a New York electric and gas provider, said it will restore majority of the service interruptions due to Sandy by 4 November and the remaining by 7 November.
NYSEG president Mark S Lynch commented, "As we continue to make repairs to the backbone of the electricity delivery system – our transmission lines and substations – and continue to bring additional resources into the locales where service is interrupted, we will see steady progress in restoring service."
Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE) had restored service to over 338,000 customers and remains on track with restoration projections.
The company anticipates restoring power to a vast majority of customers by tonight, with some scattered outages extending into the weekend.
The utilities are also helping each other in restoring electric service to their customers in times of natural calamity.
Power utility Dominion sent its crews working in Central and Eastern Virginia to assist in Northern Virginia, while Central Maine Power (CMP) sent 28 two-man line repair crews with additional support personnel and equipment to help restore service for customers of Connecticut Light and Power.
San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) deployed over 40 of its employees to assist New York-based utility Con Edison with repairs to overhead power lines damaged by the storm.
In addition, the utility is sending six five-man crews, two mechanics and another ten various supervisors and coordinators from its construction and operation centers throughout San Diego and Orange counties.
