The US Department of Justice told Siemens it does not intend to challenge the company’s acquisition of Westinghouse Power Generation from CBS. A binding agreement was signed by the two corporations in November 1997, subject to US government approval.
The German company has also received approval from the US Committee on Foreign Investment and from the German Cartel Office. Westinghouse is now destined to become part of the Power Generation Group of Siemens.
