The US city of Krum has outlined plans to commence the construction on a new wastewater treatment plant by summer 2014.

The proposed $2.8m wastewater treatment facility is expected to become operational around nine months after the commencement of construction, reports the dentonrc.com.

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) initially issued its decision for the plant’s permit approval. However, a final ruling has been delayed for around three weeks.

Apart from TCEQ’s permit approval, the city is yet to receive an engineering review by the Texas Water Development Board and to advertise and receive bids.

According to the Krum city officials, the contracts for the treatment plant were actually scheduled to be awarded by late September, but got delayed and are expected to be awarded by mid- or late November this year.
