China is to construct a US$740M hydro power project on the Xijiang river in GuangxiZhuang region by 2010.

The Changzhou water control project, including 15 generating units, a 49m high dam and two sluice gates to allow navigation, has been granted approval by the State Development and Reform Commission, reported China’s Xinhua news agency.

Investment will come from China Electrical Power Investment Group Company and Donghui State-Owned Assets Management Co.
