VA Tech Hydro has won a contract valued at over US$18M for the supply of equipment to China’s Zilanba and Jin Xi hydro power projects.
Working in conjunction with local Chinese turbine and generator company Dongfang Electric Corp, VA Tech Hydro is to supply the hydraulic concept and main components of three Kaplan bulb turbines rated at 35MW and with runner diameters of 5.35m to Zilanba, with the first deliveries made in April 2005.
The contract also covers the components of four 38.5MW Kaplan bulb turbines with runner diameters of 5.9m for Jin Xi.
The two companies are also to work together on future projects, added VA Tech Hydro.
