UOP is currently undertaking basic engineering design, and the start up of the complex is scheduled for 2011. The Newfoundland & Labrador Refining (NLRC) facility is projected to process 300,000 barrels per day of Middle Eastern crudes for the production of transportation fuels to support demand in North America and Europe.

UOP said that the new facility will feature a wide range of its technologies to produce low-sulfur, high-quality clean fuels.
