Gene has dedicated his entire career to advancing the information technology and corresponding technological systems used in U. S. Steel’s operations and administrative processes, said Surma. His efforts have contributed significantly to our ability to seamlessly conduct business at locations around the world and have helped us maintain our reputation for being an industry leader in the use of technology at all levels of our company.
In 1977, Trudell shifted to marketing administrative services as a systems designer and developed through a number of increasingly responsible positions in tubular marketing, business planning, and commercial and quality systems.
In 1989, Trudell transferred to Mon Valley Works near Pittsburgh after being appointed manager-business systems. His was responsible for the Mon Valley Works facilities were expanded in 1993 to include process control when he was named manager-systems and process control.
Trudell returned to headquarters in 1996 when he was promoted to general manager-computer services, a position he held until 2002, when he was appointed managing director-information technology services. He joined his current post in October 2003 and is responsible globally for information technology, process control and other administrative functions.
Formerly, Trudell is a president and member of the Steel Industry Systems Association, an organization that provides a forum for systems professionals to gather and discuss the implementation of systems within the steel industry.
Trudell has earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Duquesne University in 1970.
