The Bensenville wastewater system includes a 4.7 million-gallon-per-day wastewater treatment facility, 19 lift stations, and three storm water pump stations, and it serves about 20,800 residents.

The new two-year contract took effect 1 January 2012, and carries provisions for automatic annual renewal thereafter.

Since 2004, when United Water began managing the contract, the company has developed operations, maintenance, and management systems with Bensenville, including the use of computerized systems to track preventive and corrective maintenance, customer service, and permit compliance.

The company works closely with the Bensenville Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Bensenville Kiwanis Club, The Helping Hands of Bensenville Fire Protection District, and other civic groups.
