Union Gas has announced that it will decrease its natural gas rates. The company has said that residential customers who buy gas from the utility can expect a 20% decrease in their annual natural gas bill, a C$255 to C$306 average annual saving, depending on location.
The company has said that the rate change, which was recently approved by the Ontario Energy Board, will go into effect on April 1, 2009.
Along with lower rates, Union Gas customers can realize even greater savings by taking steps to improve the energy efficiency of their homes. Energy conservation is an investment that offers savings and environmental benefits that continue year-after-year.
Steve Baker, vice president of Union Gas, said: “These lower rates reflect what the company expects to pay for natural gas supplies over the next 12 months. Natural gas is a competitive energy choice and continues to cost less than electricity or fuel oil for space and water heating.”
Union Gas is an integrated natural gas storage, transmission and distribution company claims to serve about 1.3 million residential, commercial and industrial customers in northern, southwestern and eastern Ontario. The company also provides storage and transportation services to other utilities and energy market participants. Union Gas is a Spectra Energy company.
