South Ukrainian nuclear power plant is planning to start assembling the first generator at the Tashlyk pumped storage plant in early November, according to local media.

Elektrotiazhmash company (Kharkiv) is expected to supply the generator’s stator during October. The plant is now more than 90% complete and operation of the first phase of the plant is expected to begin in December of 2005. The first two units of the plant are expected to have a combined capacity of 300MW.

The plant, located in Yuzhnoukrainsk in the Mykolaiv region of southern Ukraine, should operate during the morning and evening periods when consumption is at its peak.
