The 97 MW Black Law wind farm near Forth in South Lanarkshire, Scotland, has officially begun commercial operations, almost doubling developer ScottishPower’s installed wind capacity.

Black Law also makes ScottishPower the largest wind power generator in the UK.

The £90 million ($155 million) wind farm comprises 42 turbines located on the site of a former opencast mine which was completely restored to shallow wetlands during the wind farm construction.

Black Law is the first of several large wind farms currently in development by ScottishPower, including the 322 MW Whitelee project.
