The UK-based agency said the nation’s upstream oil and gas industry is maintaining a stable and positive outlook for the second quarter of 2012.
Operators were cited as reason for the rise in index, which is the highest since the last four years
The confidence of majors companies and independent companies rose by three points and two points respectively whereas the contractor sector confidence remained unchanged at 66 points.
The survey also noted the confidence of four sub-sectors that included drilling and well services sector which noted a drop of six points from 70 in the last quarter and the support services sector fell to 65 from 67 points.
The facilities engineering, operations and maintenance sub-sector confidence rose by three points to 66 whereas the marine and subsea confidence scored 67 points, well high of 60s in the last quarter.
UK Oil & Gas supply chain director David Ripley said the general confidence level in the current quarter remains similar to the previous quarter’s confidence level but with high activity.
"Operators are busy with a number of major projects, including several sanctioned last year, and appear buoyed by the tax changes aiming to promote investment that were announced following constructive dialogue between the Government and industry," Ripley said.
"Contractors continue to enjoy high activity levels fulfilling existing contract commitments in the UK as well as expanding the export of their services and products to clients around the globe."
"They have, however, become increasingly aware of the challenge of sourcing skilled personnel and equipment, for example drilling rigs, in a tight market, with operating and manpower costs rising and margins being squeezed.
