Through its New and Renewable Energy Programme, the UK’s Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is currently seeking proposals for shared-cost R&D projects. This call for proposals seeks to commit up to £12M (US$18M) of DTI funding to new projects, with industry sharing the cost.

The call focuses on high quality, innovative R&D projects that offer prospects for improving and/or reducing the cost of energy derived from new and renewable energy sources. Proposals which will be given priority include hydro and wave power.

The DTI calls this a major opportunity for the UK new and renewables industry. It also welcomes proposals co-ordinated with the European Commission’s ENERGIE programme.
