Russia's Unified Energy Systems (UES) is intending to bid on a tender concerning the sale of the Slovakian electricity company Slovenske Elektrarne (SE), according to the Interfax news agency. UES will bid for SE via its ZAO Inter RAO UES subsidiary. A 49% state-owned stake will be on offer to bidders.

The wholly state-owned SE accounts for 85% of Slovakian electricity production, and controls around 7,000MW of generating capacity, including hydroelectricity.

UES says it also plans to buy into the Bulgarian, Moldovan and Ukrainian electricity industries.
