Russia’s UES has released date showing the company produced 193.2 TWh in the first quarter of the year, down from 198.4 TWh for the same period of 2006.

For the quarter, energy consumption across Russia amounted to 268.9 TWh, down 0.9% year-on-year, due to the extremely low temperatures seen in January-February 2006. UES said it had to increase generation by 5.8% in the first three months of 2006 compared to the same period of 2005. Conversely, January 2007 saw average temperatures as much as 8.9oC above the monthly norm.
