According to TXU Energy, the price reductions vary depending on the plan a residential customer is on and their location. For a typical single-family household the estimated annual savings could be as much as $300. In early October 2008, TXU Energy lowered prices on plans offered to potential new customers as well. Those price cuts were as much as 8%.
The price for TXU Energy’s MarketEdge plan, which tracks natural gas prices, ranges from 11.3 to 12.2 cents per kilowatt-hour of electricity in November 2008 depending on where a customer lives.
Dave Hennekes, vice president of residential markets at TXU Energy, said: “The lower prices reflect the fact that wholesale electricity costs have dropped as the price of natural gas has fallen. We are passing lower costs on to our existing customers.”
TXU Energy provides electricity and related services to customers in Texas. The company also offers various electricity plans, energy-saving products, electricity bill payment assistance programs and renewable energy products.
