Finland’s TVO has begun the environmental impact assessment (EIA) process for a new nuclear power plant.

Emphasizing that the company has not made an actual investment decision to construct a new unit, a spokesman said that as licensing is a long process, starting now will make it possible to submit the application for a decision-in-principle to the Council of State “in due course.”
