TVA crews started work on a retired transmission line from the bridge that serves state Highway 35 near Scottsboro.
The authority said all vessels should take extra precaution between Tennessee River miles 385-386 and boaters should also watch for and heed warnings from the five security boats that will be on patrol in the area.
TVA noted that it will remove both transmission wire and steel transmission structures during the project.
The road crossing the bridge also will be closed to automobile traffic until the transmission line work completes.
TVA provides electricity for business customers and local power distributors serving 9 million people in parts of seven southeastern states in the US.
