Together with a partner, the company will provide construction management for New York’s new Police Academy for an estimated EUR452 million ($656 million). Turner’s share in the project is 50%. In addition, Turner will construct a new teaching facility on the campus of the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta. The contract has a volume of an estimated EUR3 million ($63 million).
The new Police Academy in Queens, New York, will have a capacity to train up to 2,000 recruits of the New York City Police Department (NYPD). In addition to teaching facilities and a physical training building, the 140,000-square-meter Academy site will also feature a utility building.
The first project phase will be completed by 2013. The project is targeting a LEED Silver certification from the United States Green Building Council. In Atlanta, Turner will manage construction of the 20,000-square-meter G. Wayne Clough Undergraduate Learning Commons. The facility will include science laboratories, classrooms, lecture halls and project team rooms. The project is scheduled for completion in May 2011.
