The discussions initiated last year were temporarily halted due to the 9.0 magnitude earthquake that hit Japan in March, and crippled the Tepco-run Fukushima nuclear plant.
Turkey has also signed an agreement with Russia last year to build its first nuclear power plant worth $20bn in Akkuyu.
Under the contract, Russia-based Rosatom will begin the construction of the plant in 2013 and the first unit is expected to commence operations by 2018, reports Turkish Weekly.
