The well, which was drilled by the Maersk Deliverer rig in water depths of 1,787m to a total depth of 4,433m, intersected poorly developed water-bearing reservoirs.
Tullow said that this unsuccessful well will have no implact on future plans for its Mauritanian acreage.
Tullow holds a 22.4% interest in the Block 6, while Petronas and Roc Oil hold 72.6% and 5% interests, respectively.
Malaysian oil and gas company Petronas is the operator of the block.
