The company will acquire the 58MW Hume hydro power station on the Murray River, the 27.2MW Burrinjuck hydro power station in South West NSW, the 7.2MW Keepit hydro power station.
The acquisition also includes the 9.9MW Blayney wind farm and 80% of the 4.2MW Crockwell wind farm.
The transaction is anticipated to be completed before the end of July 2014.
Trustpower, which generates about 5% of New Zealand’s power, said the assets would perform well within its existing renewable energy portfolio.
The hydro and wind assets are expected to generate about 270GWh in an average year, and contribute around AUD8.5m to the company’s earnings in the first full year of Trustpower ownership.
New South Wales’ unions and Green MPs have reportedly condemned the NSW government’s move to sell the assets.
