China-based photovoltaic (PV) products manufacturer Trina Solar has secured a PV module supply contract, totaling 345MW for Copper Mountain Solar 3 Project in Boulder City, Nevada, the US.

Owned and operated by Sempra US Gas & Power, the proposed solar power project will be constructed by AMEC.

As per the agreed terms, Trina Solar will supply 1,133,550 dual-rated, 72-cell PD14 solar modules for the project.

The delivery of the modules is expected to commence from Q4 of 2013, and the project is slated for completion in Q1 of 2015.

Commenting on the deal, Trina Solar Americas president Mark Mendenhall said that the supply contract represents the company’s capability to meet the growing consumer demand in the solar business sector.

AMEC vice president Tom Dodson said, "Trina Solar is uniquely qualified to provide solar panels to this project.

"Their modules’ track-record of proven performance and their strong balance sheet made them an easy choice for Copper Mountain Solar 3."

When completed, the Copper Mountain Solar 3 Project is expected to generate enough clean electricity to power around 80,000 homes for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, and the City of Burbank.
