Trevi Group company Trevi Spa has signed a EUR 273 million contract for the maintenance and safety of the Mosul Dam in Iraq following an international tender process.

The safety of Mosul dam has been highlighted in a recent report from the US Army Corps of Engineers that warned the structure is at a ‘higher risk’ of failure than it was a year ago, with "an unprecedented level of untreated voids" in the dam’s foundation.

As part of the contract, Trevi said an intense level of drilling activities and injection of cement mixtures will take place for the consolidation of the foundations of the dam. Other activities include repair and maintenance of bottom outlet tunnels.

Italian military forces will be located in the region of the dam to ensure the safety of the more than 450 technicians and staff of Trevi.
