The Kenya Power and Lighting Co unveiled plans to reinforce the country’s transmission network. The project will involve construction of 145 km of 220 kV overhead line from Nairobi to Kiambere, and 20 km of 132 kV line from Kipevu to Rabai.

The two new lines are due to be commissioned in 2000. Substations at Ravai, Kiambere and Kipevu will be extended.
