Nigeria LNG has signed a sale and purchase agreement to supply Total's wholly owned gas and power trading and marketing company, Total Gas & Power Limited, with 1.375 million tonnes per annum of liquefied natural gas for a period of 20 years.

The LNG is expected to be delivered to the US and Mexico to meet the increasing demand for natural gas in those countries, and in particular to Total’s regasification capacity at the Sabine Pass and Altamira LNG terminals.

With this LNG purchase, Total is delighted to further expand the scope of its cooperation with Nigeria, which is an important part of Total’s portfolio and a key producer in the LNG industry, declared Yves-Louis Darricarrere, president of gas and power for Total.

Supply is expected to commence by the end of 2007.
