The Jura field reportedly comes on stream less than a year after development was sanctioned and only 17 months after discovery of hydrocarbons.

This high pressure-high temperature field, with proved and probable reserves of 170 million barrels of oil equivalent (boe), lies in the UK sector of the Northern North Sea, 440km northeast of Aberdeen, Scotland, in a water depth of 113m.

Total noted that Jura’s development represented capital expenditures of around $300 million. Its production is expected to ramp up to 6.5 million cubic meters of gas per day at plateau levels.

With 6,000 barrels per day of liquids also being produced, the Jura development is expected to give Total a combined total production capacity of around 50,000boe per day. The ability to link into existing infrastructure has been a key factor in the development coming on stream quickly.
