The company is expecting the field to produce gas at an average flow rate of 14,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day including 2,500 barrels per day of condensates in 2013.

Atla gas field was brought into production by the company two years after the completion of the exploration drilling.

Total Northern Europe Exploration & Production senior vice president Patrice de Viviès said the company discovered the Atla field in 2010.

"The fast track development was completed within budget and schedule and will have a very quick return," Viviès said.

"It is a good example of Total’s expertise in maximizing value of mature assets by combining exploration and development forces".

The Atla field is part of the PL102C license and is operated by Total E&P with 40% interest, where as Petoro, Centrica and Det Norske each own 30%, 20%, 10% respectively.
