The block15/06, which is situated around 350km northwest of Luanda in deep offshore Angola, covers about 2,984km², with a water depth ranging from 220m to 1,700m.
The north-western hub of the block, which is presently under construction, is expected to start production in 2015, while investment decision for a north-east project is expected to be taken in 2014.
Eni is the operator of the block with 35% stake, while others include Total and Sonangol with 15% each, and SSI, a joint venture of Sinopec and Sonangol, with 25%, as well as Statoil and Falcon Oil Angola Investimentos with 5% each.
Total Africa exploration and production senior vice president Jacques Marraud said, "The sale of our interest in Block 15/06 is in line with Total’s global strategy to actively manage its portfolio and focus its investment capability on core assets in which it has more material interests, such as Block 17 with the CLOV project currently under development and the future development of Kaombo on Block 32 in Angola."
