TNK-BP hopes to produce 6.5 billion cubic meters of gas in the Nizhnevartovsk region, 2.7 billion cubic meters of which will be produced by its subsidiary Rospan.
In addition, production is expected to reach 700 million cubic meters in the Nyagan region and around 800 million in the Orenburg region. Lean dry gas produced by associated petroleum gas processing will make up the remaining volume, the publication revealed.
TNK-BP is reportedly waiting to receive conditions from Gazprom regarding the supply arrangements for the increased volumes of gas. This would involve direct connection to Gazprom’s gas transportation system near Urengoi through the building of an 80 kilometer-long gas pipeline costing around $3 million per kilometer.
Interfax-AGI said that upon Gazprom’s approval, TNK-BP plans to begin construction of the pipeline in 2009, following which, Rospan will be able to increase its gas production to nine billion cubic meters by 2012 and ultimately to 16 billion cubic meters by 2014.
