Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB), the national electricity company in Malaysia, is planning to construct new hydroelectric power plants in Terengganu and Pahang in order to meet rising electricity demand.

According to the Bernama news agency, feasibility studies for the two plants are underway. A company official said that TNB is looking at the hydroelectric power sector because of rising prices of fossil fuels.

The precise date of construction of the plants has yet to be determined.
