Australia-based oil and gas company, Titan Energy, announced the drilling of oil and gas exploration well, Warradarge-1, in its 100% owned DR11 license, located onshore in North Perth Basin, Western Australia.

The license is situated about 280km north of Perth and is about 10km to the west of the Woodada gas field and 20km north-west of the recent Arrowsmith gas discovery.

Titan Energy is drilling the well to a planned total depth (TD) of about 4,500ft, targeting the proven Cadda Formation and Cattamarra Coal measures of the Jurrasic sediments in the section of DR11.

The company is planning to collect the cutting samples and use modern downhole data acquiring tools to fully evaluate the conventional and unconventional potential of the hydrocarbons.

Titan Energy chairman Darren Levy said drilling of the company’s first oil and gas well in DR11 is a milestone for the company.

"This area of the North Perth Basin has received a good deal of focus recently due to nearby drilling successes and we look forward to this well testing an area we believe may be a ‘sweet spot’ in this part of the basin," Levy added.

The well is being drilled using Dominion Drilling’s UDR 1500 HD rig and the time to reach the TD is expected to take about 12 days.
