The partnership between SITA, Compagnie Nationale du Rhône (CNR), Compagnie Fluviale de Transport (CFT) and Voies Navigables de France (VNF) will combine their expertise in designing a mobile waterborne waste treatment plant concept.
The waste treatment plant features a barge and a silent as well as environmentally-friendly plunger, which will run on electricity and hydrogen from renewable sources,
It will be moored alongside a quay for the day and a system will be deployed at the top to receive the waste.
Suez said an electric delivery tricycle allows the service offer to be rounded out, and the bulky waste that neighbouring residents leave at the bottom of their apartment blocks to be collected.
The waterborne waste treatment plant will return to the Edouard Herriot Port every evening to be emptied, and to recharge the equipment with green energy.
It will then be moored at a new waste collection site the next day.
SITA will take charge of the waste collected in order to recover it as new material, organic or energy resources, depending on its type.
The waterborne waste treatment plant allows the collection of recoverable materials to be enhanced in order to turn them into new resources.
It contributes directly to achieving the targets for increasing the recycling of household and similar waste, as well as reducing the amounts that are not recovered.
