As per the agreed terms, the company will invest around £2.5bn in the AMP6 program.
Initially, Costain has secured a two-year Early Contractor Involvement contract and will subsequently enter a five-year contract to deliver the AMP6 capital program from 2015 to 2020. This contract may further be extended for five years from 2020 to 2025, as part of AMP7.
Meanwhile, Costain, in joint venture with Veolia and Atkins, will deliver a significant proportion of the program of essential upgrades to water and wastewater networks and treatment facilities in UK.
Commenting on the initiative, Costain chief executive Andrew Wyllie said that the contract will further strengthen the company’s position as an engineering service provider in country’s water sector.
