The five-year contract has a base period of three years with two option years.
The deal requires Tetra Tech to support US President Barack Obama’s Power Africa Initiative that intends to increase the amount of electricity available in Sub-Saharan Africa via a private-sector led model for development.
Under the initiative, 12 agencies of the US Government are working together with multilateral organizations, African governments and the American private sector to add cleaner electricity generation capacity in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Tetra Tech will support the US government to speed up the generation and transmission of sustainable electric power in Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Nigeria, and Tanzania.
The company will identify and design new methods to develop small-scale clean energy projects in order to increase access in rural areas.
Tetra Tech will develop a pipeline of power generation projects, support the strengthening of regulatory and institutional policies, and offer direct programmatic support to the Power Africa Coordinator’s Office.
