The firm will initially spend $50m for the project, which will consist of loading and unloading facilities and dedicated rail cars to accommodate the unit train at the Anacortes refinery.</p>
The Anacortes refinery, which currently receives one to two thousand barrels per day of crude oil from bakken shale, is expected to increase its capacity to 30 thousand barrels per day, on completion of the project.
Tesoro Corp will start the construction of the facility on receipt of necessary permits.
Tesoro has also executed a long-term agreement with Rangeland Energy to access the crude oil loading terminal and pipeline facility in Williams County, which will have a direct connection to Tesoro Logistics’ High Plains crude oil gathering system.
