Selected after consideration of multiple proposals, the Teradata Data Warehouse Appliance with the new Teradata Database is expected to help ERDF support the massive volumes of data generated by 35 million smart power meters, which are projected for deployment in France by 2022.
Each meter is anticipated to send readings to ERDF every 15 minutes, an expected 2,000 billion readings per year.
Teradata France president and Teradata South EMEA vice president Eric Joulie said the analytic solutions will enable ERDF to more efficiently process its big data and eventually transform their power system to rapidly support new usages.
"By leveraging analytic and decision-making solutions from Teradata, ERDF expects to improve its data services to its customers and to get a clearer vision of its business through more relevant reporting and analysis," Joulie added.
The end-to-end and detailed data made available by Teradata’s solutions will help ERDF better understand and profile usage patterns, and subsequently scale the power system more effectively to provide improved service to customers, while ensuring compliance with ever-changing regulations.
ERDF’s existing system can no longer be scaled to support such large and growing datasets and complex analytics, according to Terradata.
