Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB), Thrissur, India is expected to call tenders soon for implementation of the 163MW Adirapally project, expected to be on a turnkey basis with supporting financial package.

The scope of work will include the design and construction of a 23m high dam across the river Chalakudy, intake works, a concrete-lined penstock of a 6.9m driven section and a 6.3m finished section, a surge shaft of 20m in diameter, a low pressure pipe 4.5m in diameter bifurcating at the tunnel exit to two 3.15m pipes, a 2x80MW powerhouse and a 3MW dam toe powerhouse, transformers and switchyard.

The turnkey contract will also cover civil, structural, architectural, mechanical and electrical works as well as environmental and forest protection works.

The tenderer is also required to submit a project financing proposal with a long- term loan, preferably at concessional interest rates, and coverage of entire capital cost till completion of the project.
