The project, now rechristened Tenaska Silverleaf Solar Energy Center, will be located on 1,100 acres of agricultural land, close to another 150MW solar generating facility also being developed by one of its affiliates.

Construction of the project is expected to commence in 2014 with commercial operations targeted to begin in 2015.

Tenaska Solar vice president for development Steve Johnson said that the participating companies were together committed to helping the state of California meet its renewable portfolio objectives.

Agile Energy CEO Glen Davis added, "Agile Energy’s vision of developing a major solar generating station in the Imperial Valley will now be realized with the backing of Tenaska."
