US-based TechPrecision Corporation has received an $860,000 order to produce nuclear components for a customer in South Korea. The order is due to be delivered in December 2013.
Ranor, the division of TechPrecision that is tasked with manufacturing the components is one of the few N-Stamp certified precision manufacturing companies based in the US, according to TechPrecision CEO James Molinaro. The firm has been supplying nuclear power plant components for over 50 years.
South Korea is currently building four domestically-designed nuclear power plants: three 1400 MW APR-14000 reactors Shin-Ulchin 1 and Shin-Kori 3&4, as well as one small OPR-1000 unit for Shin-Wolsong 2. A Korean consortium is also building an APR-1400 reactor, Barakah 1, in the United Arab Emirates. TechPrecision did not reveal which project(s) the order relates to.
