Under the terms of the contract, the offshore energy services giant will execute connection of the subsea pipeline for the new production platform in the offshore project located in Campos Basin.
The new fixed platform of the Peregrino Phase II Project will be connected by the in-field lines to the existing platform.
TechnipFMC will handle the entire execution for engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction, installation and pre-commissioning of the flexible lines, rigid pipelines and the subsea equipment required for the project.
The UK-based company plans to leverage local capabilities along with its pipelay fleet for the offshore campaign, which is slated to commence in 2019.
TechnipFMC subsea projects president Hallvard Hasselknippe said: “We are extremely honored and proud to have been selected to execute this project, in addition to the previously awarded surface trees package for Peregrino phase 2.
“This reinforces the long-standing relationship between Statoil and TechnipFMC, which we will continue to strengthen through future Brazilian projects.”
According to Statoil, the Peregrino Phase II would involve a new well head platform and drilling rig (Platform C) which would help it in adding nearly 250 million barrels in recoverable resources to Peregrino oil field until 2040 end.
Operated by the Norwegian oil and gas giant, the Peregrino field is located 85km offshore Brazil in water depths of about 100m. It is estimated to hold heavy oil of recoverable reserves in the range of 300-600 million barrels.
The Peregrino Phase II project will see an increase in the number of production wells from a new area in Peregrino Southwest which was previously inaccessible by the existing A and B platforms.
Statoil had earlier said that the project is expected to begin production towards the end of the decade.
